Main Duties

Personal Assistant required for young woman living in Stoke Gifford area to support with getting to college, daily living needs, general domestic and personal care duties in the home. The post is for Thursday and Friday, totalling 15.5 hours term time – full days may be needed during school holiday on Thursday and Fridays ( this will be discussed further at interview). Additional hours may be required to cover other staff holidays.

I am looking for someone who is patient, calm, and is able to support me with my independence and also happy to do domestic tasks at home.

Some previous experience desirable.

Hours:  Thursday 7.30am – 10am & 2.30pm – 10pm
Friday 7am – 1pm   15.5hours ( term time )

School holidays hours will be different/flexible ( to be discussed at interview )

Pay: £8.76 per hour

Job Description & Person Specification

It is the job of the Personal Assistant to assist their employer in all areas of personal care and social support, and to act as a confidential escort, assistant and companion in the person’s social and day-to-day activities. By providing help at the right time the disabled person is enabled to lead an individual and independent lifestyle in the community.

The Personal Assistant should always ask what their employer’s needs or wishes are and listen to the requests and directions. The Personal Assistant should have the physical skills of lifting, pushing and bending.  One does not have to be a strong person physically to do the job, but general good health and fitness are considered to be an advantage.

Note: – All needs will vary from day to day and duties will alter accordingly, so the Personal Assistant needs to be able to be flexible with his/her time.

Your role will include:

    • Assisting with social integration process, coming up with ideas and offering gentle encouragement.
    • Organising and supporting the individual with social and physical activities
    • Supporting with tasks around the house such as cooking, shopping, laundry, ironing and cleaning.
    • Help the individual to understand the need for a healthy diet, active lifestyle and positive body image.
    • Booking and going to appointments
    • Administering water, feed or medication when required.
    • Collecting prescriptions.
    • Driving
    • Support with participating in hobbies
    • Supporting the individual with college work and study.
